Best Flash- Flex- flipbook ever!

Ruben Swieringa did a great job in developing this amazing flipbook. I am always frustrated when a company publishes their folder in a online flipbook version which never really works and is full of bugs. But Ruben has written a great product with lots of extra features like transparancy, hard covers and tear off pages. The book works and feels like a real book. You can turn the page by clicking somewhere on the whole side instead of only in the corner which is commonly used. The flips feels very natural and is almost glitch free and the performance is already very good.

I think this is the best digital flip book ever, you can forget all about the others!

Precise all the way

I’ve been busy with Adobe after effects for a couple weeks now, but didn’t really have the time to go into it all the way. Well yesterday evening I tried and ended up with this result:

What I tried to do here is to create a fake commercial for the Apple iPhone simply because I needed a good subject. I have worked here with multiple compositions, time remaping, 3d layers and a couple effects. I’m pretty pleased with the result, although I know it’s not perfect. When you are working with AE you have to work very precise, something I lack a bit right know since I’m still in a learning fase and want to take as many assets of AE. The 3d effect when the programs are put on the iPhone could be much better if I was preciser.

Vote for Sumeco on may1reboot

Since Maikel (flexcoders.nl) made the site for Sumeco a collegua of us and he is a bit behind on votes. So I ask you to please vote for Sumeco on May1Reboot. It deserves a better place then he is currently on. It’s better then the ones that are yet in the top 5. It’s beating them by usability and beauty in my opinion. A briljant example of a good flex application that is fast and not standard skinned!

So vote here now!!

Animation

I’m building lots of applications in Adobe Flash and also flex these days, but the applications mostly consist of forms. Animating them creativily is a hell of a job because most of the time you end up with powerpoint animations. So the adobe live event website got me inspired to do some research in these animations. Although I am a programmer and favour programming animations, I favoured animating in the timeline for this type animating. It’s simple but it can take up a lot of your time. It is something I like to improve my skills in, because I think it gives a website a bit more wow-power.

This is the result I ended up with for now and it inspired Jaap to do something alike.
