Two weeks in advance of its European debut, FITC has sold out its event in Amsterdam. FITC Amsterdam is scheduled for February 25 + February 26, 2008 at the Felix Meritis European Centre for Arts and Sciences. This is the first time that FITC, now in its seventh year, has ventured outside North America.
“Amsterdam has a reputation as a place for cool technology and hot design, which is one of the reasons why we chose it for our European debut,” says Shawn Pucknell, Founder of FITC and Executive Producer of FITC Amsterdam. “Now that the event has sold out well in advance, we’re confident in the choice we made.”
FITC Amsterdam takes place over two days and features an international line-up of designers and developers from North America, Europe and The Benelux Region. Of particular interest to the FLASH community is the participation of the development team behind Papervision 3D, a high-performance, open source 3D application. Other developers confirmed include: Branden Hall (author and teacher, USA), Erik Natzke (interactive designer, USA), Colin Moock (ActionScript expert and author) and Jared Tarbell (levitated.net).
Trailblazing artist, designer and technologist Joshua Davis leads the FITC design “pack.” He’ll be joined by fellow speakers: GMUNK (aka Bradley Grosh, motion graphics expert, USA), David Eriksson and Daniel Ilic (Co-creative Directors for North Kingdom, Sweden), Joshua Hirsch (Minister of Technology, for Brooklyn, New York-based interactive design studio, Big Spaceship), Tali Krakowsky (Director of Experience Design, Imaginary Forces, New York and LA) and James Paterson (artist and designer, Canada).
As a bonus, attendees will be able to access the full FITC Amsterdam event schedule on mobile thanks to developer Thomas Joos (Belgium). The mobile application is being written with Adobe® Flash® Lite™ software, a powerful runtime engine for mobile and consumer electronics devices. You can follow Thomas’ work on the application at http://vilebody.wordpress.com.
Next on the agenda for FITC is FITC Toronto - The Design & Technology Festival, the company’s flagship event with well over 1,000 attendees. Passes are now on sale for FITC Toronto at http://www.fitc.ca/toronto.
